Gurbir S Grewal, an Indian American Attorney-General of New Jersey, will head the Enforcement Division of the US Securities and Exchange Commission. As the Director of SEC’s Enforcement Division, Grewal will play an important role in regulating financial markets in the country.

Indian American attorney Gurbir S Grewal, the longest-serving Sikh Attorney-General of New Jersey, has been selected to head the Enforcement Division of the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to a press release by the US SEC, Gurbir S Grewal, 48, has been nominated by New Jersey’s Governor Phil Murphy for the post of Director of Enforcement Division. He will take charge from July 26. https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2021-114

“The Enforcement Division has a critical role to play in finding and punishing violations of the law,” said Gurbir S Grewal. “I’m excited to get to work with the talented team of public servants to uncover and prosecute misconduct and protect investors. I thank Governor Murphy for the opportunity to serve the people of New Jersey and all of the colleagues with whom I’ve had the pleasure to work during my career in the state.”
